Gadag Betgeri is one of the most important on silk blended  for cotton and production center for cotton and silk blended fabrics and traditional sarees this place occupies a prominent position in the development of handlooms in Karnataka with a set of highly skilled weavers. The Government of India have set up a cluster development center at Gadag. The cluster assists the local weavers in acquiring high quality raw material, upgraded dyeing, Testing faculty and common weaving center which in turn helps producing high quality fabrics suitable of export quality products the uniqueness about Gadag is the production of Gaadidhadi, Chikiparas and paras saree which are blends of cotton and silk yarns. These sarees are very popular in North Karnataka and Maharashtra region. The borders have three to four lines of vertical designs which resembles the bogies of trains and hence they are locally called GAADI DHADI saree, These are produced by individual weavers,a small manufacturers and co-operative societies.
